About Plainyield
Plainyield is an independent education site about earning interest on crypto. We do one thing: explain lending, interest accounts and DeFi yield honestly, risk first, so you can decide with your eyes open — or decide not to.
Why a whole site about one dangerous idea
“How can I earn interest on my crypto?” is one of the most searched — and most dangerous — questions in the whole market, and most of the answers online are affiliate leaderboards ranking the highest advertised rates. Plainyield exists to answer it the other way round: risk first, mechanism second, marketing never. Every page starts from how earning interest on crypto actually works and what can go wrong, because that is the part the leaderboards leave out.
What we refuse to do
We do not predict prices, tell you what to buy, or promise passive income. We never present a yield product as safe, quote a “guaranteed” high APY, or publish invented fee tables and rates. We will not touch presales, meme tokens, fixed-high-yield schemes, paid signal groups, or anything gambling-adjacent — those are excluded on principle. Where we name the collapses of 2022, we do it with dates and sources, because honesty about failure is the whole point of the site.
How we stay independent
Some providers pay us a commission when a reader signs up through one of our links, and we disclose that every time. A payout never softens a warning, never buys a place, and never changes what we say about the risk. The best recommendation on the site pays us nothing at all: keep your own coins in self-custody and earn nothing. The full picture is in our affiliate disclosure.
How to read us
Plainyield is a research and education publisher, not a lender, broker, exchange or financial adviser. Nothing here is financial, tax or legal advice, and nothing is a recommendation to lend, buy or invest. Crypto is volatile and you can lose all of your money; earning a yield adds the further risk that the platform or contract holding your coins fails, as Celsius, Voyager and BlockFi did in 2022. Only ever risk what you can afford to lose entirely, remember that lending means giving up your keys, and check current terms and eligibility where you live.
