Affiliate disclosure

How Plainyield makes money, and the rule that keeps a payout from ever softening a risk warning. Last updated September 2026.

The short version

Some links on Plainyield are affiliate links. If you sign up with a provider after following one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That is how the site pays for itself. It does not change what we say about the risk, it never makes a product look safer than it is, and it never buys a mention. On this site the honesty is the product, and it outranks the payout.

Every affiliate link points to a /go/ address on our own domain, which then redirects to the provider. We do it this way so all partner links are disclosed, consistent and easy to audit — you can see exactly where a link goes. Affiliate links carry a sponsored, no-follow relationship, and a short disclosure sits next to the link in the text, not only on this page. We currently key only a small number of large, still-operating providers, and always write them with their full risk context.

The rule that matters: a payout never softens a warning

Because this is the earn and lending lane — the sector that collapsed in 2022 — the risk warnings are the reason the site exists, and no commission is allowed to touch them. A provider we may earn from is written up with the same failures, settlements and caveats as any other, and we will always tell you that keeping your coins in self-custody and earning nothing is a legitimate, often better choice — a choice that pays us exactly zero. If a warning and a payout ever conflict, the warning wins.

We will never place an affiliate link on a presale, meme token, “fixed high APY” scheme, paid signal group, or anything gambling-adjacent, no matter what it pays. We do not accept payment to add, remove or soften anything. And where a product cannot lawfully be promoted to readers in a given country, we do not place a sign-up link for them there. These are firm editorial lines, not case-by-case judgements.

Not advice

Plainyield is an independent education publisher, not a lender or adviser. Nothing on the site is financial, tax or legal advice, and no link is a recommendation to lend or invest. Crypto is volatile and you can lose all of your capital — only ever risk money you can afford to lose, and check current terms and eligibility in your country before signing up to anything.
