Plainyield

Privacy policy

Plainyield is a static education site. This page explains in plain terms what we collect, including what Google Analytics records and how to switch it off. Last updated October 9, 2026.

The short version

Plainyield is a static website with no user accounts and no logins. We do not sell your data, and we collect only what is needed to run the site and understand how it is used, which we do with Google Analytics. We never ask for your wallet keys, seed phrase or exchange credentials, and no one from Plainyield will ever contact you to request them — anyone who does is a scammer.

What we collect

We use Google Analytics to see which pages are read and roughly where visitors come from; the next section sets out the details. Standard server logs may record your IP address and browser for security and troubleshooting, and are kept only as long as needed. If you email us, we keep that message so we can reply. If you join the mailing list, we store the email address you give us and nothing more.

Google Analytics

The analytics we run is Google Analytics 4, provided by Google LLC and Google Ireland Ltd. It captures pages viewed, the referring site, approximate location at city or country level, device and browser type, and session timing. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. We have turned off advertising features, Google signals and ad personalisation: the data is not used for advertising, and we never sell it.

It relies on two first-party cookies, _ga and _ga_<ID>, which last up to two years and are placed only once analytics is allowed. If your device reports a European time zone (the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), you are asked first with a banner, and nothing is sent to Google unless you click Accept. In the rest of the world analytics is on by default, and you can switch it off at any time. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, we treat that as an opt-out. Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage under the key analytics-consent; it is not a cookie.

To change your answer, use Cookie settings to reopen the banner. Google's privacy policy covers Google's handling of the data, and Google's opt-out add-on blocks Google Analytics in your browser.

Some outbound links are affiliate links routed through our own /go/ addresses. When you follow one, the destination provider may set its own cookies and record the referral so any commission is attributed — that happens on their site under their policy, not ours. See our affiliate disclosure for how those links work. Beyond the two analytics cookies described above, we keep our own use of cookies to a minimum.

Your choices and contact

You can use the site without giving us any personal details, switch analytics off, unsubscribe from the mailing list at any time using the link in any email, and ask us what we hold about you or to delete it by writing to [email protected]. If we make a material change to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
